I Beams

I Beams are extremely strong structural components commonly used for their load bearing abilities. They are roll formed from steel billets. The construction of I beam is slightly different to that of H beams, the web of I beams are generally thinner and their flanges taper towards the outside. The cross section of I beams usually includes a higher length for the web compared to the flanges, thus providing them strong resistance to buckling.
