Steel Beams

Beams consist of 2 parallel planes being connected longitudinally at their center through a perpendicular plane. The parallel planes are called as flanges whilst the connecting perpendicular plane is called the web. In most applications, the flanges resist any shear forces acting on the beam whilst the web fights the bending moment. Beams are extensively used in construction of large steel facilities, building, trailers, etc. due to their extremely high strength.
